Carl Nitsche, a regular Chester Area Christian Food Pantry volunteer, takes a brief water break during the August 23 Mobile Market food distribution at the Cohen Recreation Complex in Chester. In spite of near 100-degree temperatures and high humidity, approximately 25 volunteers gathered to distribute several pallets of food to 67 clients of the free food giveaway.
For the month of August, the Food Pantry located at Koeneman Acres in Chester served 253 households with 581 individuals. Items needed for the pantry include canned vegetables, meats, fruit, fresh garden items, peanut butter, box dinners, pasta, soups, pancake mix and pancake syrup. Monetary donations are always welcome to purchase items that are in short supply. Jim Beers Photo
