A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 4th, 2021 for 71-year-old Donald “Joe” L. Layton of Perryville, Missouri who passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau.
He was born November 16, 1950 in Perryville, the son of William L. Layton and Rosemary Gibbar Layton who both preceded him in death.
He was formerly married to the mother of his children, Janet Murray, who survives in Perryville.
He is also survived by a special friend: Priscilla Fonsceca; a daughter: Tracy (Jimmy) Miller of Perryville; two sons: Tobey (Amanda) Layton of Silver Lake, Mo. and Tim Layton (Dawn Joyner) of Old Appleton, Mo.; two sisters: Rosalie (Ronald) Zoellner of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Carole Ann Lukefahr of Highland, Mo.; grandchildren: Dustin Morris, Maranda Morris and fiancé Jeremiah Owens, Jessalyn (Trevor) Hemmann, Ethan (Faith) Layton, Hannah Layton and fiancé Derrick Roberts, Cameron Layton, and Triston Layton; great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Morris, Malie Morris, Drake Morris, and Gib Layton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, and a brother-in-law: Paul Lukefahr.
He was a past member of the Eagles and the Amvets.
He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, and socializing with friends and family.
He retired from General Motors then later retired from T.G. U.S.A.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
A memorial service for 71-year-old Donald “Joe” L. Layton of Perryville will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 with Deacon John officiating.
