STE GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve Project Pioneer awarded prizes to several members of this year’s honored families.

Speakers for each family at opening ceremonies, Mike “Skip” Weiler and Yvonne Brake, who each received a family book; the oldest man and oldest woman of each family, Neil Wehner and Marilyn Wehner and Jerry LeClere and Delores Roth, were given a framed family crest; and those traveling the farthest to attend, Kristen and Katherine LeClere of St. Louis (63 mi.) and Teresa Wehner of Oxnard, Calif., (1,897 mi.) received a family t-shirt.

Names pulled from the hat for next year’s celebration were the French Bolduc and Pruneau families, and the German Weiler family. These families are urged to begin gathering their family information for submission beginning this fall. The first meeting with these families will be on Saturday, Oct. 14.
