STE. GENEVIEVE — The Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office announced early Saturday morning that a warrant has been issued in connection with last week’s high speed chase.
The subject is identified as 28-year-old Colt Rylee Hayes, of Festus, Missouri.
He is charged with felony resisting arrest, felony tampering with a motor vehicle, exceeding the posted speed limit, careless and imprudent driving, failed to register a vehicle and no insurance.
His bond was set at $10,000 cash only.
Hayes is charged in connection with an incident Thursday afternoon in which a motorcyclist on a stolen bike led Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase that began with an attempted traffic stop on Highway 61 at Bahr Road.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Jason Schott said the motorcyclist failed to yield to the attempted traffic stop and headed south on Highway 61, then turned west on Highway 32, then north on I-55 at speeds of 100-plus miles an hour. The chase went into Jefferson County before the motorcyclist pulled over.
Schott said the motorcycle had been reported stolen out of St. Louis County.
