KANSAS CITY — The Mountain-Plains Information Office of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has released Missouri Job Openings and Labor Turnover – May 2023. Assistant Commissioner for Regional Operations Michael Hirniak noted these Missouri highlights:
Missouri had 176,000 job openings in May 2023, compared to 190,000 openings in April.
The job openings rate was 5.6 percent in May for Missouri, a 0.4 percent decrease since April. (+6.0 percent).
Nationally, the job openings rate was 5.9 percent in May and 6.2 percent in April. (See chart 1.)
The ratio of unemployed persons per job opening in Missouri was 0.4 in May, which was less than the national ratio of 0.6.
