STE GENEVIEVE — The Ste. Genevieve High School Emeralds dance team recently won honors at the UDA Dance Camp at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis from July 13 – 15.
The team earned a Superior Trophy for their combined ribbon totals.
The troupe performed a “home routine” and earned an “Excellent” ribbon.
Team member Sophie Vogt was named All American after spending two days practicing during extra time and performing for the UDA staff.
The group also learned and performed a “performance routine” and earned a “superior” ribbon, and then learned and performed several other routines and individually earned the following awards:
Addison Hanei — 2 superior ribbons
Paris Hoy — 2 excellent ribbons
Sophie Vogt — 2 superior ribbons
Kristen Wittu — 1 superior, 1 excellent ribbon
Madison Henson — 1 excellent, 1 outstanding ribbon
Sophie Garcia — 2 superior ribbons
Olivia Kirchner — 1 superior, 1 excellent ribbon
The team received a Superior Trophy for their combined ribbon totals, and also received a “110%” trophy awarded to them by the UDA staff members.
Only two out of 22 teams received this recognition. It is bestowed for putting in tremendous effort throughout the entire camp weekend.
The dancers worked from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. daily on new techniques and new dances.
They were able to attend break-out sessions to learn how to build up their team, and they also participated in nightly team-building activities to set goals for the season.
The camp hosted a CRAZY NIGHT where the dancers had the opportunity to dress up, play different games, and have fun with all of the other teams at the camp.
