SIKESTON, Mo. – Registration has opened for the 12th annual Southeast Missouri Food Bank Golf Classic, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 18, at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau.
Sponsorship opportunities for the outing are available, with most sponsor levels including a team entry. Team-only registration for the four-man scramble is $800. Lunch, golf cart, and food and drink along the course are included with registration. The roster is limited to 25 teams for the par-72 Jack Nicklaus-designed course, which is one of the top three private golf courses in the state.
“We’re really excited about this year’s golf classic,” said Joey Keys, chief executive officer of SEMO Food Bank. “We’ve got some great things planned for our teams and know it’s going to be a great day. More importantly though, it’s an opportunity to support families, children and seniors across southeast Missouri who are food insecure. Our area has some of the highest rates of hunger in the state, and inflation over the last couple years has really taken a toll on working families and seniors on fixed incomes.”
Proceeds from the tournament will support the food bank’s programs that, with partner agencies, provides food to 80,000 individuals each month in a 16-county service area.
“We really appreciate all the support from the golf outing’s sponsors and players,” Keys said. “We’re serving more people each month than we were two years ago. We know neighbors are struggling, and this is a great opportunity to help them.”
Team check-in begins at 11 a.m., with lunch served at 11:30. The shotgun start will be at 12:30 p.m. The day also includes contests and a chance to win a $10,000 cash prize from Coalter Insurance Group.
