Statement by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois on the release of the State’s Multi-Year Infrastructure Improvement Plan

SPRINGFIELD – The American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC Illinois) released the following statement regarding the unveiling of the state’s Multi-Year Improvement Program (MYP) for FY 2024-2029 by IDOT:

 

“Strategic investments in the modernization of our state’s road, air, rail and freight infrastructure guarantee state-of-the art, safe, reliable and accessible transportation and freight options for Illinois residents and businesses and accelerates the growth of our economy,” said Kevin Artl, president and CEO of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois. “The Multi-Year Improvement program just released by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is the largest in state history and shows total investments of over $40 billion by the state in transportation infrastructure projects over the next six years, a 10% increase over last year’s MYP. IDOT is projecting to spend over $4.6 billion for FY24 alone, a 25% increase over FY23. We thank Governor Pritzker and IDOT for their steady commitment to ReBuild Illinois and the modernization of our state’s transportation infrastructure.”
