Wayne J. Steibel

A funeral will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023 for 80-year-old Wayne J. Steibel of Evansville, Illinois, who passed away at 10:36 pm, Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, Missouri.


He was born March 31, 1943 in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois a son of Clarence and Mildred (nee Deterding) Steibel who both preceded him in death.

 

Wayne married Charlotte Heck on January 27, 1962 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ruma, Illinois; she survives in Evansville.

 

He is also survived by three children: Sandra (Jerry) Chartrand of Doniphan, Mo., Jeffery (Mary) Steibel of Columbia, Ill. and Kevin Steibel (Beth Luhr) of Ruma, Ill.; eight grandchildren: Neil (Violet) Chartrand, Ryan (Lisa) Chartrand, Miranda (Jamie) Poslusny, Derek Steibel (Carla Woods), Joshua Steibel, Kyle Steibel, Ashley Steibel, and Courtney Steibel; three great-grandchildren: Logan Poslusny, Dylan Chartrand, and Dakota Chartrand; three siblings: Rose Ann (Harry) Glenn, Steve (Cheryl) Steibel, and Sharon (Denis) Bagsby; a sister-in-law: Bernice Steibel and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

 

He was preceded in death by a brother: Dale Steibel; two brothers-in-law: Gilbert Dinan and Curtis Henry and a sister-in-law: Jeanette Henry.

 

Wayne was a farmer and owned Steibel Auto Body in Ruma from 1981 to 2009. 


He was a member St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ruma, Illinois.

 

Wayne was the crew chief on a drag car team for 13 years.

 

He was also a member of Hart-Parr Oliver Collector’s Association where he served as vice president for eight years and a member of the Pontiac Oakland Club International.

 

Wayne was also a life member of the NRA.

 

Visitation will be 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ruma, Illinois.


A funeral mass for 80-year-old Wayne J. Steibel of Evansville, Illinois will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ruma, Illinois. Msgr. Dennis Schaefer will officiate.

 

Interment will be in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Ruma, Illinois.
