Ste. Genevieve Memorial Day Tribute

STE. GENEVIEVE – Members of American Legion Post 150 paid tribute to the first two men from Ste. Genevieve County who were killed during WWI.

Pictured are members of the Post at the grave sites of William Kiefer located in Valle Springs Cemetery and Lawrenceton church cemetery at the head stone of George Buchholtz.

At the Kiefer grave site are Post 150 Commander Virgil Boyer and Service Officer Linda Lewis who saluted Private Kiefer while Adjutant John Wibbenmeyer plays taps on the bugle.

Whereas Buchholtz is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, a headstone has been placed for him in Lawrenceton by his parents graves.

Post 150 was represented by Building Chair Dennis Wolk, Mike Otte, Executive board member, Wellie Joggerst Post historian and Wayne Basler the Judge advocate.
