STE. GENEVIEVE — Historical Ste. Genevieve, Missouri will be celebrating its annual Holiday Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 4th and Sunday, December 5th, 2021. The event is an opportunity for both entertainment and education – a fantastic parade with a lot more going on. The parade is one of the largest holiday parades in Missouri: over 100 floats, classic cars and dignitaries. Immediately following the parade the Lion’s Park will feature food (free hot dogs for kids under 12), entertainment, free shuttle rides, and free photos with Santa. Meanwhile, an endless variety of culturally rich music will be performed in holiday-decorated churches and historic buildings. There will also be various holiday-themed lectures, a magician, an Art Guild Show, and the Le Reveillon (a French Christmas celebration).
The vast selection of music makes Ste. Genevieve’s December tradition a wonderous occasion. According to Executive Director Annette Rolfe “music is a link to the universe” and she believes that music encourages higher aspirations of learning and greater ideals. The event places emphasis on music history and exposes diverse genres from old to contemporary.
Rolfe said that “Baroque, Classic, Romantic and Impressionistic period music are the foundation of the festival every year and all concerts being performed compliment and interact with these styles quite smoothly”. Along with violins, cellos, a string quartet, a pipe organist and a Celtic harpist, this spectacular event includes a Latino jazz trio, a contemporary smooth jazz saxophonist, Alternative country, Traditional country, classical guitar, acoustic guitar, French singers, chamber singers, madrigal singers, a symphonic wind ensemble and a steel drum band, and so much more.
Founded in 1735, Ste. Genevieve, Missouri is where the west began – so why not make it where your Christmas celebration begins, as well?
