STE GENEVIEVE — The Ste. Genevieve Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is moving to the offices used by the old National Vinyl offices at 970 Rozier Street.
This move will take place through Wednesday, May 11th, 2023, with their first day open in their new facilities being Thursday, May 12th, 2023. So starting Thursday, May 12th, please start using the new location at 970 Rozier Street, the set of double glass doors on the left, facing M Road/Rozier Street.
The “mailing” address will remain the same at 320 Jefferson Street, while the email (svdpstegen@gmail.com), website (www.svdpstegen.org), and help line phone number (573-271-7004) will also all remain the same. Only the physical location will change.
This move is being performed to allow preschool children, who are currently on a waiting list, to have a place to go to school in the old Pantry location in the DuBourg Building. This is the same building where the Valle preschool children currently reside, so this will allow for the housing of all the preschool children under one roof.
This move was coordinated with Father Nemeth from the Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church, Chuck Bauman who is head of maintenance for Valle and the Church, and Stephen Bleckler, President of St. Vincent de Paul.
The move was in recognition of the missed opportunity to allow the preschool children who were on a wait list and unable to attend preschool to have a building with their fellow preschool students.
There is potential for a cafeteria to be placed in the building also, which houses the DuBourg Center Rooms which are rented out by the Church for events such as wedding receptions.
Also in the building is the Valle High School Weight Room, where the students can walk from school just down the road to perform their workouts.
The management and ownership of Eric Scott were kind enough to offer their facilities that were being unused to house the new St. Vincent de Paul food, hygiene items, and clothing distribution center. There will be much more room for the Neighbors In Need (NIN) to move around and look for free clothes or free household items.
The double-glass doors are in front facing M Road/Rozier Street… the set of double doors to the left (there should have an SVDP logo sign coming soon to let you know which doors).
So St. Vincent de Paul will return to its normal operating hours, every Thursday (unless there is a 5th Thursday in a month, at which time they will be closed), from 9am to 11am.
At that time, Neighbors In Need can obtain boxes of food, free clothing, free hygiene items, and any household items for free, that have been donated by the community.
The Senior Boxes will also continue, uninterrupted, every Thursday after the second Wednesday of the month, whereby our elder citizens can get an extra box of free food, for being 60 years of age and older and in need of extra food.
Donations of clothing, small household items, Christmas items, unopened/non-expired food, etc. will also be accepted at this time. St. Vincent de Paul still does NOT take any furniture larger than what will fit on their small shelves.
In addition, St. Vincent de Paul will no longer be open on Tuesdays or Fridays from 4pm to 6pm for NIN to shop for free clothes, nor will donations be accepted at those times. The racks that were formerly outside the Pantry at 320 Jefferson Street 365/24/7 will also no longer be available due to logistics.
So with the move and change, there will be some good things and bad things happening. St. Vincent de Paul asks for your patience with the loss of more hours and opportunities to obtain free items at more hours, as well as the ability to donate items during other hours. But they hope that you take solace in the fact that they have more space, and the children in our community will be able to attend preschool now, maybe even your children!”
