STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve City Administrator Happy Welch says the city’s temporary city hall may be located in leased space at the No. 44 Plaza Drive in the Plaza Ste. Genevieve on Ste. Genevieve Drive while city hall is being remodeled.
“Staff has been researching temporary locations for city hall and have determined that 44 Plaza Drive (seen in Google Street View photo above, next to Domino’s) would be the best location to accommodate our office staff and customers/visitors and includes enough room to have our board room tables and chairs included so meetings can take place and not interfere with the fire department and (its) meeting room,” Welch stated in his report to the board of aldermen contained in the work session packet.
City officials have previously utilized the fire station meeting room when the regular board room was not available.
Welch said the city attorney, Mark Bishop, has reviewed the lease and has some recommendations he will follow up with the building owner, but added it is a short-term lease and the landlord is willing to work with the city on the time schedule.
The tentative lease was not included in the work session packet, but will be presented to the aldermen at this week’s work session. He said once presented at a regular meeting the lease will become a public record and can be revealed to the public.
