STEM Signing Day puts the spotlight on Missouri high school seniors as they make the big decision about where to further their education, much in the same way athletes are celebrated as they choose a school. The event was created in 2019 by the Missouri Chamber Foundation’s Mathematics and Science Coalition in partnership with The Boeing Company.
STEM Signing Day will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday in the Saint Louis Science Center’s Boeing Hall.
This year’s event will highlight 33 STEM students. Each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
“Building a world-class STEM workforce is critical to the future of Missouri’s economy. STEM Signing Day is a chance for our state to celebrate and recognize the academic achievements of some of our brightest young scholars,” said Daniel P. Mehan, president and CEO of the Missouri Chamber.
“STEM Signing Day is a great opportunity to let these young people know how much Missouri values their contributions and that there are outstanding career opportunities right here in Missouri when they are ready to enter the workforce.”
“It is our honor to celebrate these 33 students that have chosen exciting STEM career paths for their very bright futures,” said Prat Kumar, Boeing Vice President and General Manager of the F-15 program. “We can all attest to the fact that STEM fields hold great promise and opportunity for those who pursue that path, and STEM Signing Day is one way Boeing is proud to provide such opportunity for our community’s young innovators and problem solvers of the future.”
STEM Signing Day is made possible through a partnership with the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development, My Scholarship Central, Journey to College and the Missouri Mathematics and Science Coalition. Sponsors include The Boeing Company, Orscheln Industries, Chamber Benefit Plan, Hitachi Energy, Kansas City National Security Campus managed by Honeywell FM&T, Pfizer, Project Lead the Way, Saint Louis Science Center, Missouri Afterschool Network and STEMSTL.
