St. Vincent students make beautiful music

PERRYVILLE – St. Vincent High School musicians have been make beautiful music lately.

On Sunday, Feb. 26, the seventh and eighth grade bands performed in the Bishop DuBourg Band Festival in St. Louis.  They received a 1-Exemplary and a 2-Outstanding rating from the two judges.  “I’m very proud of their musical growth and development,” band director Jerry Lintner commented.

On Thursday, March 2nd, the  SVHS Band performed in the MSSBDA Southeast Regional Band Contest hosted at Scott City. The Band received an overall 1-Exemplary rating from the three judges which is the highest rating possible.

Saturday, March 4 was the MSHSAA District Solo and Small Ensemble Festival hosted by Jackson HS. Ella Clifton (piano) and James Unterreiner (Clarinet) received 1-Exemplary ratings making them eligible to perform in the MSHSAA State Music Festival at Mizzou on Friday, April 28.

“Regardless of the ratings, these students are better musicians and better people for having gone through the process of practicing difficult solo literature at a high level.  It takes considerable nerve to showcase your work in a venue where there is nowhere to hide.  I’m proud of ALL of these band, choir and piano students,” Lintner said.

The band soloists are James Unterreiner, Abby Kirn and Ben Kirn, the vocal soloists are Lauren Miesner and Gabby Gremaud and piano soloists are Ella Clifton, Isaac Kirn and James Unterreiner.

“We’re now gearing up for the MSHSAA Large Ensemble Festival hosted by SEMO on Wednesday, March 15.  I’m hoping we can grow from our MSSBDA performance and earn another 1-rating,”
