STE. GENEVIEVE — The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen met in regular and work sessions Thursday.
Jimmie Donze presented the Ste. Genevieve Municipal Band’s annual report.
Police Chief Jasen Crump reported an officer has left the force for a department in a neighboring community.
Steve Wilson, Alliance Water submitted a written report.
A public hearing was held to consider amendments to Chapter 405 of the city’s zoning regulations regarding home occupations, marijuana-related uses and zoning for tiny homes.
During the consent agenda three resolutions were approved:
Resolution 2023-16 appointing June Ewing to the Ste. Genevieve Planning and Zoning Commission.
Resolution 2023-17 re-appointing David Bova to the Ste. Genevieve Housing Authority Board.
Resolution 2023-18 appointing Patrick Fahey to the Ste. Genevieve Tourism Tax Commission.
A street closure request from Ste. Gen Gearheadz Car Club LLC. for their monthly car cruise in was approved for the third Saturday of each month May through September. The club requests the closure of Third Street, Merchant Street between Third and DuBorg and DuBorg from Merchant to Market Streets from 4-9 p.m. each day.
Bill No. 4541 amending the City Personnel Manual was given final approval 8-0.
A bid from Jokerst, Inc. of $278,614.92 for the 2023 street asphalt overlay plan was approved.
A bid from CE Contracting of $66,355.40 for the Claymont Street Concrete Replacement Project was was approved.
Bill No. 4542 amending Chapter 405 of the Zoning Regulations and Chapter 605 of Business Licensing was was given first round approval.
Bill No. 4543 amending Chapter 405 of the Zoning Regulations creating a tiny home overlay zone was given first round approval.
Bill No. 4544 allowing the mayor to enter into an agreement with CE Contracting for the Claymont Street concrete replacement project in the amuont of $66,355.40 was given both first and second round approval.
Bill No. 4545 amending the Municipal Code of Ordinances Chapter 405 Zoning Regulations was given first round approval.
Bill No. 4546 authorizing an agreement with the Ste. Genevieve Municipal Band was given first round approval.
The regular session was followed by a work session.
A scheduled review of a storm water study was postponed due to illness.
The aldermen discussed the remove of the unused Blain Street water tank which sits on city property adjacent to private property. It will cost $34,000 to $40,000 to remove it. The tank is deteriorating.
The board reviewed 15 employee benefit ideas and polled the employees. The city administrator recommended a change in the vacation schedule and a 457 retirement fund.
The board discussed the make up of the city employee Health Care Committee, which will assist the city in formulating its health insurance package. A meeting of the committee is set for March.
