Thomas ‘Tom’ Joseph Rottler

A funeral will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2023 for 86-year-old Thomas “Tom” Joseph Rottler of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his residence in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

 

He was born November 30, 1936 in Ste Genevieve, MO.

 

Married to Judith “Judy” (Smith) Rottler on March 22, 1957.

 

Survived by his wife: Judy Rottler of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; three sons: Dewayne (Robbin) Rottler of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Gary Rottler of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Tom (Debbie) Rottler Jr. of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; two daughters: Vickie (Shelton) Sumrall of Crestview, Fla., and Teresa (Leroy) Lancaster of St. Clair, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his father: Valentine P. Rottler; mother:Teresa (Herzog) Rottler; son: Michael “Mike” Rottler; two brothers: Pat Rottler, and Robert “Bob” Rottler; three sisters: Verneil Dunsworth, Ruth Cartledge, and Betty Maurice.

 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo..

 

A funeral for 86-year-old Thomas “Tom” Joseph Rottler will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church. The Clergy will be the Rev. Steve Matthews.

 

Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, MO.

 

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.

 

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church as an elder and deacon.

 

He was proud of his Union and was a brick layer for 42 years. When we went for rides, he would point to brick buildings and say, “I Built That.” There were many brick buildings around with his initials and fingerprints.

 

Tom loved camping with six kids, refinishing furniture, wood working, and gardening.

 

He passed away in his sleep and that’s the way he wanted to go!
