Boys’ Basketball

 

PERRYVILLE – St. Vincent lost to St Pius 60-51 Saturday.

 

The St. Pius led 16-12 after one, 32-22 at the half and 38-32 after three. St. Pius outscored St. Vincent 22-19 in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

 

Blake Monier and Grant Abernathy led the Indians with 13 points each. Simon Unterreiner was also in double figures with 11. Dylan DeWilde had seven, Dane Kline had three, and Payton Strattmann and Jacob Schremp each had two points. The varsity fell to 11-10 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.

 

The junior varsity won 59-32 to improve to 15-4 on the season.

 

Max Wheeler had 22 points, Boston Tarillion had 14, Wyatt Winkler had 11, Parker Ellis had eight, Tyler Hennemann and Jacob Seabaugh each had two points.

 

The St. Vincent varsity and junior varsity hosts Herculaneum Tuesday at 7 p.m.

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – Valle has the fourth seed in the MAAA Conference Tournament and will have a first round bye and then play the winner of Saturday’s game between the fifth seed North County and the 12th seed Bismarck tonight at 8:30 at Mineral Area College.

 

PERRYVILLE – Perryville plays freshmen, junior varsity and varsity games at Saxony Lutheran Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m.

 

STE GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve has the No. 2 seed in the MAAA Conference Tournament.  They have a first-round bye and will play the winner of Saturday’s game between No. 7 Kingston and No. 10 Arcadia Valley on Tuesday at 8:30 at Mineral Area College.

 

CHESTER – Chester hosts Sparta Friday at 7:30 p.m.

 

 

Girls’ Basketball

 

STE. GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve defeated 10th seed Valley of Caledonia 56-39 Saturday in the opening round of the MAAA Conference Tournament.

 

The seventh-seed Dragons improve to 7-8 on the season and will play No. 2 seed Farmington at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mineral Area College as the tournament continues.

 

JACKSON – Saxony Lutheran plays at Poplar Bluff tonight at 7:30.

 

STE. GENEVIEVE – The game between Valle Catholic and Kingston originally scheduled to be played on Thursday, January 26, has now been rescheduled for tonight at 6 at Valle Catholic, varsity only.

 

PERRYVILLE – Perryville plays at Windsor tonight.

 

PERRYVILLE – St. Vincent hosts Herculaneum tonight at 7:30.

 

CHESTER — Chester hosts Lebanon Wednesday at 6 p.m.

 

Wrestling

STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve High School wrestled Farmington Friday.

 

The boys won 41-34.

 

The girls won 45-0.

 

Ste. Genevieve hosts the Ste. Gen Duals Tuesday at 5 p.m. Valle will be taking part.

MFCA releases Academic All-State Football Team

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Football Coaches Association has released its academic all-state football team.

 

Here are the criteria as set by the coaches association.

 

Nominations must meet the following criteria:

  1. Player must be nominated by their head coach, who must be a current member of the MFCA
  2. Player must be a starter on Offense/Defense or be a punter or a kicker in 70% of games
  3. Must be Sophomore, Junior, or Senior

 

Nominations must also meet 2 of the next 3 criteria:

  1. Must score a 25 or higher on ACT or 1200 on the SAT
  2. 3.5 GPA or higher (GPA must be non weighted)
  3. Must rank in top 20% of his/her class

(GPA and class rank will be determined by the GPA and class rank at the start of that year)
