Construction begins today on Bloomsdale Elementary School project

BLOOMSDALE – Bloomsdale Elementary School announced Tuesday that construction will begin on their renovation project.

Starting today the school’s main entrance will be the double doors at the left of the gym.

All families and visitors and students will use this entrance throughout construction.

“We have relocated the camera and buzzer system to this door, and our secretaries will meet families and visitors at the door,” a school official stated, adding that “families and visitors, (need to)…call ahead of time or set up appointments to make this set-up as manageable as possible during construction.”

The main entrance for preschool students and families will also be the double door entrance by the gym.

“Preschool parents are still welcome to walk their child to the preschool classroom for drop off,” the official added.

Once construction begins, Dragons Den will be located in the gym, and that is where pick-up will be, as well.

The official also asked parents to be sure their students are prompt in coming to school. “It is important for students to arrive at school on time the next few months, as this will help with traffic in the building.”

The official estimated that dirt work on the project is scheduled to begin on Monday, Feb. 6.

“We will be sure to share with families photos and videos of the construction progress throughout the next few months,” the official added.

About the Bloomsdale Elementary project

This facilities project includes a new secure entrance and is composed of an approximately 1500 sq. foot addition as the new main entrance. This would allow the school office to securely welcome visitors and route them either into the office space or into the building.

This space includes the double-gated entry, offices, a work space and a restroom.

The existing spaces where the offices are currently located would then be renovated.

Of all of the Prop SG facilities projects, Bloomsdale Elementary’s addition is first, with construction scheduled to be completed before school begins in the fall.
