Merlin Orville Kasten, 89, of Perryville, MO, passed away on January 27, 2023.
He was born on October 9, 1933 in Uniontown, MO to Oscar and Martha (Rasche) Kasten.
He was baptized on October 15, 1933 at Grace Lutheran Church, Uniontown, MO, by Rev. J.M. Mueller. He was then confirmed on April 4, 1948 by Rev. Hafner at Grace Lutheran Church, Uniontown.
On September 3, 1955, Merlin and Ruby Wahlers were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown, MO. They were married 67 years.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, MO.
He worked at McBride Airport for 43 years as a mechanic and then as an inspector. He retired from Sabreliner.
He enjoyed the Cardinals, gardening, and woodworking. He loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby, and two children, Douglas Kasten and Holly Brown; brothers, Clyde Kasten and Ronald Steinkamp; four grandchildren, Eric Kasten, Tiffany Kasten, Zachary Mais, and Lauren Thomas; three step-grandchildren, Dustin Rees, Tyler Rees, and Kyle Rees; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are sisters, Ella (Lou) Brasca and Gladys (Clifford) Duggin; brothers, Edwin (Delphine) Kasten, Kenneth (Claire) Kasten, Robert (Brenda) Kasten.
Visitation will be 9:00 am – 10:30 am on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville, MO. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 am at Ford & Young Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Schlie officiating. Burial will follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville, MO
