A funeral will be held Monday, January 23, 2023 for 57-year-old Michael Allan Downey Sr. of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 12:04 pm, Monday, January 16, 2023 at his residence.
He was born to Lillian (nee Weaver) Downey on November 3, 1965 in Sparta, Illinois. His parents, Lillian and William Downey survives in Chester.
Michael married Deanna Morefield in September 1989 in Chester, Illinois; she preceded him in death on June 17, 1993.
He is also survived by two children: Derrick Downey of Marissa, IL and Michael Downey, Jr. of Chester, Ill.; a brother: David (Heather) Downey of Gorham, Ill.; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother: William Downey Jr. and a sister: Lisa Weaver.
He had worked at Nordmeyer’s Grocery Store in Chester for 20 years. He then worked for Solar Press in Perryville, Missouri.
Michael was of the Lutheran Faith.
He enjoyed riding motorbikes, hanging out with friends and playing cards and dominoes.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2023 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, Ill.
A funeral service for 57-year-old Michael Allan Downey Sr. of Chester, Ill. will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2023 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, Illinois. The Rev. Phillip Keeton will officiate.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
