Pedestrian seriously injured when struck by car

JEFFERSON CITY — A 74-year-old Ste. Genevieve man was seriously injured Wednesday morning when he was struck by a car while walking on Route A in Ste. Genevieve County.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Gerald S. DeRousse was taken to Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

 

The patrol says the accident happened when a southbound 2014 Ford Fusion driven by 24-year-old Logan Kemper of Ste. Genevieve came upon DeRousse standing in the southbound lane. Kemper swerved into the northbound lane at the same time DeRousse ran into the northbound lane.

 

Kemper, who was buckled up, was not injured.

 

The accident happened about 6:30 a.m. north of Lime Kiln Road.

 

There was minor damage to the Fusion.
