IL Freedom Caucus: Illinois needs competent State Superintendent – Not another activist

SPRINGFIELD, I’ll. – The Illinois Freedom Caucus is today issuing the following statement on Illinois State Superintendent Carmen Ayala’s retirement.

“Superintendent Carmen Ayala’s departure is welcome news for parents and students across the state. Her focus was on indoctrinating students with leftist propaganda and being the enforcement arm of JB Pritzker’s radical mask mandates.

She shut down schools, unrecognized districts who pushed back, and masked our kids through fear and intimidation.

Her regime could not end soon enough.

Illinois families need a State Superintendent who is interested in promoting learning and real academic achievement. We don’t need another political activist.

Governor Pritzker has an opportunity to show the people of Illinois he is willing to listen to the concerns so many parents and families have expressed about Superintendent Ayala’s policies.

The unfortunate reality, though, is competence and achievement are not qualities the Pritzker Administration values. Superintendent Ayala will likely be replaced by someone just as committed to far-left ideology and just as hostile to the rights of parents.

It is important for parents to continue to stay involved and push back against the continued assault on their rights.”

The Illinois Freedom Caucus is comprised of State Representatives Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich); Chris Miller (R-Oakland); Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville); Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) and Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur). The members of the Illinois Freedom Caucus are members of the Illinois General Assembly who are advocating for limited government, lower taxes and accountability and integrity in government.
