JEFFERSON CITY — A 22-year-old woman from Snellville, Georgia suffered minor injuries in a traffic crash on I-55 in Ste. Genevieve County Wednesday evening.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Tamia D. Nelson was taken to Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
The patrol says Nelson was the driver of a northbound 2000 Ford Taurus when she fell asleep and traveled off the left side of the roadway. She over-corrected and the Taurus then ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a rock bluff.
The patrol says Nelson was unrestrained.
The crash happened about 6:15 p.m. at ther 149 mile marker.
The patrol reports Nelson was cited for driving while intoxicated and was taken to the Ste. Genevieve County Jail on a 12-hour hold.
Her Taurus was a total loss.
