A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 for 60-year-old Kenneth “Ken” Dale Burris of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 12:10 pm, Friday, October 21, 2022 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Illinois.
He was born to the late Bille John and Rose Marie (nee Fisher) Burris on March 20, 1962 in Sparta, Illinois. He was one of 10 children.
Ken married Tammy White on July 6, 1994 in Chester, Illinois; she survives in Chester.
He is survived by six children: Anthony (Angie Hall) Burris of Sparta, Ill., Christopher (Jordan) Burris of Chester, Ill., Chantell Burris of Chester, Ill., Bethany Burris (Landon Rensing) of Chester, Ill., Layla Burris of Chester, Ill., and Amber; two sisters: Judy (Bill) Rainey of Coulterville, Ill. and Sally (Philip) Hepp of Coulterville, Ill., four brothers: Ed Burris of Coulterville, Ill., Mick Burris of Gibsonton, Fla.,
Bob (Wendy) Burris of Vicksburg, Mich., and Don (Whitney) Burris of Muncie, Ind.; a sister-in-law: Mary (Roger) Burris Laurens, S.C.; 10 grandchildren: Connor, Jaxtyn, Macey, Aspen, Liam, Chad, Grace, Makenzly, Ozzy and Adaline; his dog: Karma and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by: parents, a son – Kenny, three brothers – Terry, Joe and Roger Burris, a brother-in-law – Bill Rainey and a nephew – Little Bill Rainey.
Ken spent most of his life being a driving trucks. He worked for Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation and most recently he had worked at Wal-Mart in Chester.
Ken graduated from Pinckneyville High School.
He enjoyed watching sports and fishing. He looked forward to each day he spent with family and friends. Ken especially enjoyed helping his grandchildren. Ken will be remembered for his jovial presence and smile. Ken’s presence will always be felt by his family and friends.
It was Kenneth’s wishes to be cremated.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the American Legion, in Chester, Illinois with gathering beforehand from noon-2 p.m.
Memorials in Kenneth’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
