STE. GENEVIEVE – Schools throughout the county will observe Red Ribbon Week the week of Oct. 24. Last week on Oct. 6, students from Ste. Genevieve County R-II School District and Valle Catholic gathered with Ste. Genevieve Mayor Paul Hassler and Chief of Police Jasen Crump to sign a Proclamation declaring Oct. 24 – 28 to be Red Ribbon Week in Ste. Genevieve County.
This year’s theme is “Better Things to Do Than Drugs.” Third grade, elementary and preschools and daycares will experience presentations from the Ste. Genevieve Police Department and the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the local K-9 units! Next Gen Assemblies will present to 5th graders, middle and high school students throughout the county. This foundation brings an anti-drug/anti-vaping message encouraging the students that they all MATTER have VALUE and have PURPOSE.
A local community group, Resources to Recovery, is sponsoring Hidden in Plain View, an experience for parents, which will be set up at both the Ste. Genevieve Middle School and at Valle Schools. Hidden in Plain View will be set up starting at 4 p.m. in the Ste. Genevieve Old Middle School Gym during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, Oct. 27.
