Missouri reports 6,636 new COVID-19 cases

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reports 6,636 new cases of COVID-19 for the week ending September 23rd.

That’s a drop of 1,456 from the previous week’s total or 18 percent.

There were 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Ste. Genevieve County compared to 10 new COVID-19 cases reported the previous week. That is 56 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 19 new cases in Perry County, compared to 27 the previous week. That is 99 per 100,000 population.

Bollinger County had fewer than 10 new cases, compared to 17 new cases the previous week. That 66 per 100,000 population.

St. Francois County had 128 new cases compared to 151 new cases the previous week. That’s 192.5 per 100,000 population.

Cape Girardeau had 87 new cases compared to 146 the previous week. That’s 109.4 per 100,000 population.

Jefferson County had 300 new cases compared to 344 new cases the previous week. That’s 132.4 per 100,000 population.

Counties in red on this map are at a high community level, those in yellow are at a medium community level and those in green are at a low community level.

Bollinger and Cape Girardeau Counties are now at a low community level.

Ste. Genevieve, Perry and Jefferson Counties are at a medium community level.

St. Francois is listed at a high community level.

The CDC recommends the following measures for people in St. Francois County and other areas that are rated at High Community Level for COVID-19 transmission:

Wear a well-fitting mask indoors in public, regardless of vaccination status (including in K-12 schools and other indoor community settings).

If you are immuno-compromised or a high risk for severe disease.

Wear a mask or respirator that provides you with greater protection.

Consider avoiding non-essential indoor activities in public where you could be exposed.
