King and Queen Candidates have been nominated

CHESTER – Chester High School Student Council Co-Sponsors Sara Hammel and Amy Miller have announced the Homecoming plans for 2022. Homecoming is September 26 through October 1 and a full slate of activities have been arranged.

Friday, September 16 nominations for 2022 Homecoming King and Queen were announced. There are a total of 10 candidates, six seniors and four juniors.
Of the senior candidates, three are King candidates and three Queen candidates.

Of the junior Candidates, two are King Candidates and two are Queen Candidates. King Candidates are Evan Bland and Korbin Jany. Queen Candidates are Bethany Baughman and Camryn Luthy.
Tuesday September 20 Candidates attended a Homecoming Court photo session at 1 p.m. at CHS.
Monday September 26 the Chester High School hallways will be judged as decorated by the various classes at CHS. Judging will begin at 7:30 a.m.
Wednesday September 28 will be a huge day at CHS with numerous activities taking place. Coronation practice will take place during 7th hour with Mr. Colonel.
After an absence of many years, CHS is bringing back the traditional CHS Homecoming Powder Puff Football Game to W.O. Smith Field at CHS. The event, which features CHS girls, is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. The first game will feature the freshmen vs. the sophomores. The second game will feature the juniors vs. the seniors. The public is invited to attend.
After the Powder Puff Football Game, at approximately 7 p.m., there will be another tradition, the Homecoming Bonfire. S’mores will be available while they last. Students are reminded to bring wood for the fire!
Thursday September 29 will also be a big day at CHS. Decorating will take place throughout the day and come to a stop at 4 p.m. Any remaining decorating will be allowed Friday morning but MUST be completed by 11 a.m.
There will be another student-faculty favorite Thursday afternoon, the 2022 CHS Spirit Games. An early dismissal will take place following the Spirit Games when all classes will compete in a wide variety of athletic-type games and activities.
Friday will be a huge hit with students, parents and the public in general. It’s Game Day! Decorating will cease at 11 a.m. At noon the Homecoming Court will be dismissed to prep for the parade.
Lineup for the parade is at 3:15 p.m. Float judging begins at 3:30 p.m. Candidate pictures will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Randolph County Courthouse. The Homecoming Parade begins at 4:00 p.m.
Friday night at 7 p.m. is kickoff for the Homecoming 2022 football game. This year the Chester Yellow Jackets will host the Carlyle Indians in a Cahokia Conference battle. The 2022 CHS Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime of the game.
Saturday October 1 will be the Homecoming Dance from 7-10:30 p.m. The 2022 Homecoming King will be crowned at 9 p.m. Cleanup will be from 11:30 p.m. until 12:15 a.m.
