CARBONDALE, Ill. — Members of Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Air Force ROTC detachment will pay tribute to the victims of Sept. 11, 2001, with a strenuous workout session this Friday, Sept. 9, at Saluki Stadium.
The members will conduct a 110-floor stair climb, representing the 110 floors of the World Trade Center twin towers that were destroyed that day. The event begins at 6 a.m. with remarks from Lt. Col. Jessica Dwyer, detachment commander.
Capt. Kathryn M. Rew-Banning, operations flight commander of the SIU detachment, said the workout honors first responders, members of the military and civilians who lost their lives as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
