JEFFERSON CITY – The “MGS Hub” site, recently released by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Missouri Geological Survey, provides a wealth of geospatial information about geology, water, earthquakes and more.
“The MGS Hub site contains all of the publicly available ArcGIS datasets and applications our Missouri Geological Survey has to offer,” said Dru Buntin, director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. “The MGS Hub provides users immediate access to the most current data, 24/7.”
Featured on the MGS Hub site is the recently released, “Follow the Water” Story Map, which is an interactive map that explores the geological, ecological and cultural significance of springs in the Ozarks. Visitors also will find the popular Geosciences Technical Resource Assessment Tool (GeoSTRAT), an interactive map that contains geologic and geotechnical data including springs, mines, water wells, sinkholes and more. Another featured application is the Groundwater Observation Wells interactive map, which provides information about groundwater observation wells in Missouri and real-time groundwater level information, where available.
“These are just a few of the applications and data available on the MGS Hub site. I am excited we are able to provide all of this information in one spot. Providing data to the public is another positive effort to support our mission,” said Jerry Prewett, assistant state geologist and deputy director of the Missouri Geological Survey.
