Ste. Genevieve 4H chicken fry, fair exhibit results released

STE. GENEVIEVE – “Our chicken fry was a resounding success thanks to all your help!,” a 4H official commented this week “Every year I am amazed at everyone’s willingness to volunteer their time and talents. We sold 672 meals and ran out of food right at 6:30. We made $3,785. These funds are used throughout the year to pay for curriculum that families can borrow, scholarships to attend events, etc. Thank you for your generosity, and hard work. It all comes back to help the kids.”

The 4H official reported that during the fair there were 79 animals sold: one goat, one sheep, 12 chickens, 39 hogs and 26 steers which brought in over $200,000 to individual 4H youth.

In addition, there were 100 exhibits in the Youth Building this year.

“We also had five youth show goats and four participants in the Pee Wee show. Last year there were 89 exhibits in the building and 66 animals sold,” the 4H official continued.
