STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve County Republicans selected Eric Schmitt to be their candidate for the U.S. Senate. Schmitt polled 1,089 votes or 53.23 percent of the ballots cast in the August 2 Primary Election.
Ex-governor Eric Greitens had 379 or 18.52 percent. Vicky Hartzler had 337 or 16.47 percent.
Ste. Genevieve County Republicans voted for Scott Fitzpatrick for state auditor, 1,203 to David Gregory’s 613 votes, a marging of 66-34 percent.
Ste. Genevieve County Republicans voted for the incumbent 8th District Congressman Jason Smith over his challenger, Jacob Turner 1,633 to 334 or 83-17 percent.
Ste. Genevieve County Republicans voted for Kim (Resinger) Gielow over Lisa (Klein) Marschel for the nomination for county collector. 1,111 to 931 or 54-46 percent.

Union Township: Kerry Kennon over Nancy Clubb 150-132.
State Representative Rick Francis, Associate Circuit Judge Tim Inman, Randy Ruzicka (presiding commissioner), Mary Jane Fallert White (recorder of deeds), were unopposed in their bid for the Republican nomination.
Ste. Genevieve County Democrats selected Trudy Bush Valentine to be their nominee for the U.S. Senate. She had 441 or 59 percent. Lucas Kunce had 211 votes or 28 percent.
David Bova was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for presiding county commissioner.
Sue Wolk was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for county clerk.
Julie Bova was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for circuit clerk.
Annette Roth was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for recorder of deeds.
Sara Hoog was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for county treasurer.
Wayne Williams was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for prosecuting attorney.
Susan Mueller was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for county collector.
Alan Green was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for state auditor.
Randi McCallan was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for 8th District congressman.
The primary election voter turn out was 22.2 percent.
