Governor Parson will address Drought Assessment Committee Aug. 4

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Governor Mike Parson is scheduled to address the first meeting of Missouri’s Drought Assessment Committee. Executive Order 22-04 Drought Alert, which Governor Parson signed July 21, instructs the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to convene the committee to help guide the state’s drought response.

The Drought Assessment Committee will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 North Riverside Drive, Jefferson City. The meeting is open to the public and will also be livestreamed via Webex at stateofmo.webex.com/stateofmo/j.php?MTID=m7882df4731c924c530dc75e3f8c35088.

The committee is composed of representatives from state and federal partner agencies that provide information, recommendations and coordination to mitigate impacts of the drought. Executive Order 22-04 declared a drought alert for 53 Missouri counties that are in severe or extreme drought.
