October 22 4th Friday Art Walk in Ste. Genevieve

STE. GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve gears up for a big (and spooky) weekend with the 4th Friday Art Walk from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on October 22, and Rural Heritage Day and the Déjà vu Spirit Reunion event on October 23.

This month’s Art Walk will feature a special event at the Ste. Genevieve Art Center & Art Museum–a book signing with local author Barbara Fitzgerald whose new book “Nature Sketches” compliments the many nature “sketches” that can be seen in the current exhibit by members of the Sainte Genevieve Art Guild.

The work of Brenda Gilliam will be on display at the Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center. Gilliam has created about a dozen paintings of the junk cars the late Willie Hoffman once amassed in his yard (a major curiosity in Ste. Genevieve at the time.) The collection is based on photos taken by Gilliam during the dead of winter along narrow paths around the rusting relics of the American automobile industry.

Photographer Larry Braun will be showing his work in the Matthew Ziegler gallery at the Felix Valle House Historic Site.

In the North Main Street Art District, Music Art Love will have featured artist Jasmine Boughamer and musician Paul Hogenmiller. As a bonus there’ll be 30 percent off selected clothing.

Suzanne Thompson will be the featured artist at Lewsi Winery. Known for her ice-dyed items, the 4th Friday exhibit will show many other types of her art, including fiber wall art, “repousse” copper ornaments, satin and lace ornaments, and pottery. The work of other local artists also will be on display.

Halloween’s the theme at E•KleK•Tix E•KleK•Tix Gallery and Studio with spooky, seasonal new paintings by J Rissover…plus witches-brew punch and wine for visitors.

Only child Originals, Rust and Masquerade also will be open on North Main.

The work of Iris Vincent will be on display at QRSTea; ASL Pewter and Silver Sycamore Gallery of Fine Art are must-see stops on the walk. Other businesses also maybe participating.

The Art Walk is free and open to everyone. Businesses and artists interested in being involved in the Walk should email fourthfridayartwalkstegen@gmail.com.
