STE. GENEVIEVE — An historic-style lamp post at the corner of Fourth and Market Streets in Ste. Genevieve was knocked down apparently some time Sunday. Passersby noticed the pole was knocked down around 1:30.
The damaged light fixture scattered broken glass across the sidewalk as it lay, without any caution tape or barricades until past 7 p.m.
At that time a phone call to Central Dispatch was made reporting the pole down. Dispatch then notified city workers who responded with caution tape and a couple of barricades to prevent the unwary pedestrian from tripping over the lamp in the dark.
The lamp and its post were removed Monday.
There have been no reports on how the pole was knocked down.
