IHLA statement on federal plan to lift COVID-19 test requirement for international travel

CHICAGO – The Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association issued the following statement in response to the announcement that the United States will lift COVID-19 testing requirements for international travelers:

“The pre-arrival testing requirement for inbound international travelers was one of the last remaining government COVID-19 mandates, and the United States was one of the only countries that had not lifted this requirement. We are thrilled this mandate has finally been lifted and that we are able to take this major step toward fully rebuilding the hotel and tourism industry both in Illinois and throughout the country. The travel industry looks forward to welcoming international travelers to Illinois with open arms once again,” said Michael Jacobson, President and CEO, Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association.
