JEFFERSON CITY — A 61-year-old Brooklyn, New York man suffered moderate injuries when his pedal-powered recumbent tricycle towing a two-wheeled trailer was struck from behind by a 2002 Ford Escape driven by a 70-year-old Ste. Genevieve man on Route F in Ste. Genevieve County Saturday.
The recumbent tricycle which was struck on Route F Saturday afternoon may be similar to the model shown above.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the operator of the tricycle, Edward A. Leibnitz, was taken to Mercy St. Louis by Lifenet.
The driver of the Escape, Kenneth P. Griffard, was not hurt.
The patrol says the crash happened at 4:33 p.m. east of Bloom Road.
The tricycle and trailer were a total loss. There was minor damage to the Escape.
