SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Key education, public safety and GOP organizations have endorsed Dan Brady, a Bloomington Republican, for Illinois Secretary of State.
“I am honored and humbled to have the support of those who teach our children and protect our citizens in Illinois,” Brady said. “I am also pleased to receive the latest in a growing number of endorsements from area Republican organizations.”
The Illinois Education Association (IEA), comprised of more than 135,000 members including elementary and secondary teachers, higher education faculty and staff, educational support professionals, and retired educators has endorsed Brady for Secretary of State. In their endorsement, the IEA cited Brady’s pledge to modernize services at the department of motor vehicles, making it even easier to register to vote, and Brady’s pledge to upgrade libraries, especially those in rural areas, with more technology and internet.
The Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois, a labor union and advocacy organization for 15,000 professional fire fighters in 224 affiliates in Illinois, has endorsed Brady for Secretary of State, citing “your support of issues affecting professional firefighters in Illinois.” The Chicago Fire Fighters Union Local No. 2 has also endorsed Brady and will recommend that its more than 4,000 members “urge their family members and friends” to vote for Brady..
Earlier this month, the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) State Lodge, representing more than 34,000 active duty and retired law enforcement officers, endorsed Brady for Secretary of State. FOP State Lodge President Chris Southwood cited Brady’s “unwavering lifetime support for law enforcement” and the legislation Brady passed in the Illinois General Assembly “that has helped to make Illinois’ roads safer and to save lives. This is exactly the kind of philosophy-in-action that we need in our next Secretary of State.”
Other FOP lodges who have endorsed Brady include Illinois Corrections Lodge # 263 and the Lake County Sheriff’s Lodge # 66.
Brady has also received the endorsements of the Republican Party organizations in Schaumburg Township, Wheeling Township, Winfield Township, Leyden Township, Lake County, New Trier Township, Barrington Township, Homer Township, Palatine Township, and Jefferson County.
Lake County Republican Central Committee endorsement: “Dan Brady is the right man, at the right time, with the right plan to move our Secretary of State offices and sites into the 21st century,” said State Rep. Martin McLaughlin, who represents parts of Lake County and was one of the first elected officials to endorse Brady. “I am excited that LCRCC evaluated Dan’s outstanding record of service to the people of Illinois as county coroner, businessman and State Representative and voted overwhelmingly to support Brady. I agree with their endorsement, Dan’s the Man!”
Leyden Township GOP endorsement: “As someone who has known Dan for the past few years I know he has the integrity and work ethic needed to turn the Secretary of State office around,” said State Rep. Brad Stephens, who represents parts of Leyden Township. “I look forward to utilizing our precinct captains and workers to help Dan win in June and November.”
Winfield Township GOP endorsement: “I’m not at all surprised to see my good friend and colleague Dan Brady receiving so many endorsements and strong support in all areas of the state,” said State Rep. Amy Grant, who represents part of Winfield township.
Schaumburg Township GOP endorsement: “I am thrilled that the Schaumburg Township GOP has joined me and other Republican leaders across Illinois in endorsing Dan Brady for Secretary of State,”said Illinois 16th District Congressman Darin LaHood. “Dan has the experience needed to reform the Secretary of State office to make it work for the people of Illinois again.”
Brady has also received the endorsements of 11 Republican state senators, 32 Republican state representatives, and three Illinois Republican members of Congress.

About Dan Brady
Dan Brady is a candidate for Illinois Secretary of State. He is a resident of Bloomington, Illinois where he is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and is an associate in the funeral home firm Kibler-Brady-Ruestman. Brady served as McLean County Coroner from 1992 to 2000. He received an A.A. from Southern Illinois University and a B.A. in Elected Studies from St. Ambrose University. Brady was named to the Illinois House Republican Leadership team in 2003 and in 2017 he was named Deputy Minority Leader.
