STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital (SGCMH) is offering its popular Home Alone and Babysitting classes.
Home Alone includes discussions on safety, first aid and self-care and will help prepare children for the times when they will be home alone. Registration fee is $10. The date and time for Home Alone will be June 14, 8 a.m. to noon.
“Staying home alone is often the first way older children are able to show their independence,” said Tina Poston, Director of Marketing and Communications at SGCMH. “But it can be hard for parents to know when their children no longer need constant supervision. This class will help provide that confidence for parents and children.”
The babysitting class will be held June 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a one-day competency-based program for youths who have completed at least the 6th grade. Topics covered include infant care, first aid, and handling emergency situations. The $20.00 registration fee includes lunch and class materials.
“This course prepares novice babysitters for a safe and positive babysitting experience,” said Poston. “Participants will learn some universal skills and techniques that every babysitter should have.”
Both the Home Alone and Babysitting classes will be led by instructor Joan Flieg.
