Friess has two bills signed into law

SPRINGFIELD – Through a cooperative and bipartisan effort in Springfield this year, State Representative David Friess (R-Red Bud) led two bills through the General Assembly with wide, bipartisan support. The new laws were signed by the Governor on Friday.

“I’m delighted to see bipartisanship work to pass needed solutions for the economic vitality of the 116th District and for the families of our countries heroes,” said Rep. Friess. “When we work together, we can enact positive change in Illinois. As a chief sponsor of these bills, I was glad to lead the effort to institute these common sense changes and am grateful for the collaborative effort that lead to today’s signing.”

The two bills signed last week by the Governor include:

House Bill 4114: The legislation made clarifications that the Kaskaskia Regional Port District can own and lease industrial, office, factory, packaging, and warehouse buildings. Previous authority allowed for the acquisition, and construction of industrial buildings, but did not explicitly provide for ownership or leasing.

Senate Bill 1411: This new law now requires county clerks or registrars to provide one certified copy of a death certificate to the family of an active duty or retired service member of the U.S. military. Previously, families of veterans were required to pay fees for any copies of death certificates.
