A funeral will be held Monday, May 2, 2022 for 78-year-old Charles Patrick Tripp of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 8:17 am, Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Belleville Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.
He was born November 13, 1943 in Anna, Ill. the son of George and Ruth (nee Jungers) Tripp who both preceded him in death.
Charles married Virginia Wittenbrink on June 27, 1965 in Chester, Illinois; she survives in Chester, Ill.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law: Gail (Gary) Beale of the state of Florida, a granddaughter: Nicole (Chris) Long; two great grandchildren: Elizabeth Wilson and Conner Long; two step great grandchildren: Mallory and Cale Long.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Karen Andrews and a brother: Mike Tripp.
He had worked as a transportation officer for the State of Illinois and was also a part time Chester Police officer.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois where he also served as an Elder and Usher for several years.
Charles was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 3553 in Chester where he had been a Commander and also the American Legion Post No. 487.
He was also a member of the Chester Country Club and had once been awarded Citizen of the Year in Chester.
Charles was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2022 and 9-10 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Illinois.
