District 32 releases summary of recent school board meeting

PERRYVILLE – The Perry County School District No. 32 has released this summary of the Perry County School Dist. No. 32 Board of Education Meeting held recently.

 

Approval of Official Election Results

Mr. Andy Comstock, presented the certified election results from the April 5, 2022 election. Rich Dix and Dominic Blythe were selected as board members for the next three years. Melissa Hahn was elected to fill the one year term.

 

Recognitions

Mary Bauwens was recognized for her six years of service on the school board.

 

Casey Brewer was recognized for her ten months of service on the school board.

 

PHS Student Council was recognized for receiving the Gold Award.

Oath of Office to Newly Elected Board Members

Ms. Dorris Thieret, Board Secretary, administered the oath of office to the newly elected board members: Rich Dix, Dominic Blythe and Melissa Hahn.

 

Reorganization of Board of Education

The names listed below are the Board of Education elected / appointed officers:

 Nancy Voelker was elected as the President of the Board of Education.

 Jamie Robinson was elected as the Vice President of the Board of Education.

 Dorris Thieret was appointed as the Board Secretary.

 Lacey O’Keefe was appointed as the Board Treasurer.

 Jamie Robinson was appointed as the MSBA Delegate.

 Nancy Voelker was appointed as the MSBA Alternate Delegate.

 

Approval of Consent Agenda

 

The board approved the consent agenda items as presented, which included:

 Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting — March 09, 2022.

 Minutes of the Special Board Meeting — March 25, 2022.

 March Warrants.

 Board Policies: Approved IGCD and JG-R1 as amended. Adopted policies ACA and IGCDA as recommended. Board Policies The board discussed policies GCPB (Resignation of Professional Staff Members) and GCPCA (Retirement or Resignation Notification Incentive).

 

Approval of the 2022 Summer School Application The application to conduct summer school must be approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education prior to holding summer school.

 

The board approved the summer school application as presented. High School Graduation Ceremony Mr. Jeff Steffens was present to discuss the board’s role in the graduation ceremony. The ceremony will be held at the Perry Park Center at 7:00 p.m. It is open to the public.

 

Communication Services Mr. Dan Querry was present to explain a change in our communication system both for the phone and intercom system.

 

Progress on Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP) Mrs. Carrie Tripp was present to discuss the progress the district is making on the CSIP goals for this year.

 

Superintendent’s Report

Mr. Andy Comstock, Superintendent, discussed the cash flow report and the budget analysis as compared to this time last year. He mentioned that Ms. Jennifer Bauwens had no recordable COVID data to report on for this month.

 

Mr. Comstock gave an update to the board on summer projects and reminded them of a few important dates to remember.

 Pre-Kindergarten Recognition is scheduled for May 16, 2022.

 Kindergarten Recognition is scheduled for May 12, 2022.

 8th Grade Ceremony is scheduled for May 13, 2022.

 High School Graduation is scheduled for May 20, 2022.

 

Missouri School Board Association Report

The April 2022, MSBA board report was made available for the board members to review.

 

CLOSED SESSION

 

A discussion was had about student matters.

 

The board approved the resignation of Mike Zoellner, an AG Teacher to be effective April 8, 2022.

 

The board voted to employ the following individuals:

 Aimee Leible as a teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.

 Jacob Bagot as a teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.

 Susan Montgomery as a teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.

 Candace Beinlein as a high school cheerleading coach for the 2022-2023 school year.

 Peggy Anders as a middle school cheerleading coach for the 2022-2023 school year.

 

A discussion was had regarding the two positions that assisted the district in our COVID response.

 

Mr. Comstock informed the board that Kristy Buerck, a food service employee is resigning at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.
