Edward L. Dufrenne

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2022 for 82-year-old Edward L. Dufrenne of Prairie du Rocher, Ill., who passed away at 1:15 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Garden Place in Red Bud, Ill.

 

He was born March 3, 1940 in Prairie du Rocher to George and Louise (nee Donjon) Dufrenne.

 

He married Carol Schicker December 31, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher; she preceded him in death on December 4, 2004.

 

He is survived by two daughters: Angie (Larry) Keeler of Tilden, Ill. and Susan (Stephen) Stefani of Evansville, Ill.; a brother: Robert Dufrenne of Ellis Grove, Ill.; a sister: Wilma (David) Candler of Prairie du Rocher; a brother-in-law: Melvin Schicker of Evansville; three grandchildren: Allison (Brian) Justusson, Antonio Stefani (fiancee Morgan Hesch) and Sadie Stefani (fiance Matthew Gregson); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Betty Schicker, a brother: Gerald Dufrenne and a sister-in-law: Edda Dufrenne.

 

He had worked as a coal miner for Consolidation Coal Company at Kellogg Dock in Modoc, Ill. and was also a farmer.

 

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, LaGuiannee Society, had served on the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Committee and was a retired member of U.M.W.A. Local 2412.

 

Edward was a former member of the Prairie du Rocher Fire Department.

 

Edward enjoyed playing cards, loved traveling and visited 49 of 50 States, but his passion was always farming.

 

Edward never missed a sporting event or school function of his grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be 8-10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher.

 

A funeral mass for  82-year-old Edward l. Dufrenne of Prairie du Rocher will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher. Fr. Sebastian Ukoh will officiate.

 

Interment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Prairie du Rocher.

 

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Les Amis du Fort de Chartes.
