Elementary students learn about the Caldecott Medal

STE. GENEVIEVE— Ste. Genevieve Elementary School students recently learned about the Randolph Caldecott Medal, which is an award given each year by the American Library Association (ALA) to the artist of the book that the association considers the best American illustrated children’s book of the past year.

The students participated in a mock Caldecott election. The three books that received the most votes were awarded the Ste. Genevieve/Bloomsdale Caldecott Award.

Students in grades K-2 then designed awards to be placed on the front cover of the winning books.

Three winners from each elementary were chosen, and their book award designs were placed on the front cover of the winning books!
