Shirley Jean Simms (Conway)

A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 for 86-year-old Shirley Jean Simms (Conway) of Sainte Genevieve, Missouri who passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Independence Care Center in Perryville, Mo.

 

She was born April 23, 1935 in French Village, Mo. The daughter of Richard Johnson and Elsie (Stroup) Johnson who both preceded her in death.

 

She married Virgil Simms. He preceded her in death.

 

She married George Conway. He preceded her in death.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Audrey (Ray) Joggerst of Sainte Genevieve, Donna (James) Brewster of St. Mary, Mo.; a sister: Janet  Gowens of De Soto; grandchildren: Raymond (Candace)Virgil Joggerst, Amanda (Robert Crump) Barnes, Chasidy (Roger) Walker, Darla (Rocky) Drury, Ben (Kim) Brewster, Trevor (Christina Allen) Brewster; great-grandchildren: Hannah Barnes, Megan Barnes, Eleanor Joggerst, Anne Joggerst, Alana Crump, Geneva Crump, Lindsey Crump, Shelby (Bryce) Bohnert, Austin (Peyton Beiser) Gegg, Grace Gegg, Jackson Walker, Madelynn Brewster, Mason Brewster, Emma Brewster, Brooklyn Brewster, Tyler Buckingham, Harleigh Brown, Payne Drury; great-great-grandchild: Cecilia Bohnert and two great-great-grandchildren on the way.

 

She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Kenneth Johnson, Robertus Johnson, Donald Johnson, Joseph Johnson; sister: Mary Ellen Streiler.

 

Shirley was an employee of the Biltbest Window Corporation for over 25 years.

 

She loved flowers and board games and a good joke, but most of all she loved to travel that’s when she was happiest.

 

She was loved by many and brought joy to her family and friends.

 

She loved her sister Janet Gowen greatly and loved spending times with her talking and laughing.

 

Her family appreciated the people at the dialysis center in Perryville which after 10 and a half years became family.

 

She was loved and enjoyed her extended family at Independence Care Center in Perryville. She had many nieces and nephews that brought smiles to her face. When asked how she was, she always said “I’m sweet, kind, and beautiful.” This was a phrase that her grandpa Stroup gave to her as a child. She had a smile and laughter that will be missed.

 

Her family extends a great appreciation for Crown Hospice they were wonderful to us at this time.

 

A graveside service for 86-year-old Shirley Jean Simms (Conway) of Sainte Genevieve will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday March 19, 2022 at Crestlawn Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve.

 

Luncheon to follow at the Progress Parkway Center, Room B.

 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the National Kidney Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Association, or the National MS Society.
