Chester High School Golfer Trevin Eggemeyer, a senior, shot an 18-hole 78 (+6) round of golf Saturday morning October 10 in the tournament finals to finish the 2026 IHSA Class 1A State Golf Tournament in 34th Place out of a total of 112 golfers.

The event took place in Bloomington, Illinois the weekend of Friday and Saturday, October 9th and 10th. The 18-hole tournament was played at the Prairie Vista Golf Course. Twelve Teams and 40 individuals teed-off on Friday morning October 9th in the opening round of 18-holes.

Chester’s Trevin Eggemeyer was one of those 112 Class 1A high school golfers who started the event. He shot an 81 (+9) on Friday in the opening round. The Top 8 teams and Top-40 individuals advanced to the State Finals on Saturday morning October 10th.

Eggemeyer shot better at Finals than he did in the opening round. In the Finals, Eggemeyer shot 78 (+6), to place 34th out of the field of 112 golfers. Quite impressive for a senior golfer who struggled early in the 2026 season.

CHS Head Golf Coach, Clayton Andrews said,” I would like to brag on Trevin Eggemeyer who really struggled to open the season. He, however, continued to battle through the adversity and played some great golf at the end to earn a spot in the State Tournament.”

“He represented Chester well over the past two days, shooting a +9 (81) Friday, to make the cut to advance to the State Finals. He then fired a +6 (78) Saturday to earn him the 34th finish in the tournament out of 112 golfers. I could not be more proud of the fight that he has shown over the last two days, and the entire season!”

“Trevin could have quit when things got hard, but he didn’t, and all of the hard work paid off! I was honored to be part of his journey.”

To get to the 2026 IHSA Class 1A State Golf Tournament. Eggemeyer had to fight his way through the 2026 IHSA Class 1A Sectional Golf Tournament. That event was held at the Annbriar Golf Tournament in Waterloo. Twelve Class 1A teams competed in the Sectional match with a total of 112 golfers. The Top-3 teams, and the Top-10 individuals that were not on those 12 teams, qualified to advance to the State Tournament.

Eggemeyer was one of the Top-10 individuals to advance out of Sectionals. The 112 golfers represented golfers from 41 different schools in the State of Illinois in Class 1A.  Eggemeyer helped his Chester YellowJacket team finish 6th out of the 12 competing teams.

Trevin finished 4th out of the Top-10 individuals, and 5th overall, in the pool of the 112 golfers who competed at Sectionals. With his results, Eggemeyer advanced to the State Tournament.

At Sectionals, Trevin shot 76 to tie with Bronson Demsar, a junior from Eldorado. Eggemeyer was Chester’s lead golfer with his round of 76. Other Chester golfers included Tallen James (23rd, 84), Kross Jany (89th, tie, 98), Alden Davitz (89th, tie, 98), Carter Kennedy (89th, tie, 98), and Jack Luthy (100th, 101).

Coach Andrews reminisced about his second season as the Chester High School Head Coach. Andrews said, “Season two for me is officially in the books. To say I am proud of this group of boys would be an understatement!”

“We had our struggles throughout a large part of the season, but the boys found their stride at the end and capped off a strong finish to the 2026 season. In the final weeks, they took 2nd Place at the 2026 Chester Invitational Tournament, they had several top-10 finishes, and Preston Liefer was the Medalist at the 2026 Junior Varsity Steeleville Warrior Golf Tournament. The Varsity placed 3rd in the 2026 IHSA Class 1A Regional Tournament, and they finished 6th out of 12 teams in a very tough Sectional Tournament.”

Trevin Eggemeyer’s teammate and friend, Alden Davitz, a junior, accompanied him and Coach Andrews to the State Tournament. Coach Andrews said, “I would like to recognize Alden for supporting his teammate (Trevin) over the past three days. Thursday October 8 was a travel and practice day. Alden took the trip with us to cheer on Trevin. For that, we are grateful!”

“The boys were able to have a weekend they won’t forget. Between the State Tournament, getting beat by their coach (me) in mini golf, and Alden’s first trip to Scheels, I hope this will be a memory they can hold onto for the rest of their lives!”

In closing, Coach Clayton Andrews said, “I am grateful for the memories that were made this season, but sad that it has to come to an end. We will miss our five seniors so much. I hope they realize all that they have provided to this Chester High School Golf Program! Each one of them meant so much to this team and have helped to shape the future of Chester High School Golf!”

“Finally. Thank You to all of the parents and friends who made this season a success. It wouldn’t be possible for us to have accomplished what we did without the help of others!”
