Regional Ozone Readings and Environmental Quality Committee

Typically we have an October Environmental Quality Committee meeting to close out the ozone season and discuss activities and concerns.  This year the Missouri Air Conservation Commission will be holding its fall meeting in Perryville on October 29, 2029.  With this, we have decided to not hold the RPC Environmental Committee meeting to allow everyone the opportunity to attend it instead.  Details can be found on the Missouri Air Conservation Commission website but the location will be:

Missouri Air Conservation Commission
Thursday, October 29, 2026; 9:00am
Catalyst Center for Business Event Center
508 N. Main St.
Perryville, MO

We will begin planning for a meeting in March/April and hope to invite Mr. Jake Buxton as the new Director for DNR to speak to the group.

Also, attached is the latest MoDNR Ozone report dated September 27, 2026.  These reports have been revised this year and no longer list daily ozone readings.  However, they still do track the top 4 highest readings during the year as well as an annual summary of the 4th highest reading which is used to calculate a monitor’s Design Value for attainment.  I am pleased to report as we have one month left in the ozone season and temperatures appear to be cooling down, there have been no exceedances recorded for the Bonne Terre or Farrar monitors.   The highest readings have been 67 ppb on the Bonne Terre monitor and 65 ppb on the Farrar monitor.  The 4th highest readings were lower at 61 and 60 ppb respectively.

Statewide there were a total of 13 exceedances recorded primarily in the metro areas.  This is less than half of the recorded exceedance from last year.  Current Design Value calculations for all monitors in the State of Missouri are at or below the 70 ppb current National Ambient Air Quality Standard.

Thank You,
Jeremy Tanz
