Ste. Genevieve, Mo. –Nick and Wendy Hermann of Ste. Genevieve were among the Missouri families honored at the 69th annual Missouri Farm Family Day on August 17 during the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia.
The Hermanns were chosen as the Ste. Genevieve County Missouri Farm Family by University of Missouri Extension and the Ste. Genevieve County Farm Bureau. The family includes their children, Grace, Adelyn, and Abram.
Each year, the Missouri State Fair designates a day to celebrate farm families from across the state who are engaged in production agriculture, demonstrate strong community involvement, and participate in outreach and youth development programs such as 4-H or FFA.

“Agriculture and 4-H are an important part of our family’s history and something we are proud to carry on with the next generation,” the family states. Hermann Farms is a Century Farm with deep roots in the community, and the family runs a cow/calf operation with Nick’s parents, Clarence (Hoss) and Trish Hermann. All three of their children are involved in 4-H, and Nick also helps lead the 4-H Beef Club, is a member of the Ste. Genevieve County Youth Ag Alliance, and is a strong advocate for keeping 4-H active and thriving in our community. “For our family,” the Hermanns state, “4-H and agriculture are about much more than raising livestock. They teach our children responsibility, hard work, leadership, service, and the importance of giving back to the community.”
Farm Family Day is made possible through the support of the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Missouri State Fair Commissioners, the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, and MU Extension.
“This day is a meaningful tradition that puts the spotlight on the families who are the backbone of Missouri agriculture,” said Missouri State Fair Director Jason Moore. “They’re not only feeding our state and nation, but they’re also leading in their communities and supporting the next generation of agricultural leaders. It’s an honor to recognize their dedication.”
