William “Burt” Clifton Jr., 96, of Crosstown, Missouri passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 27, 2026 in Perryville, MO.
He was born November 17, 1929 in Perryville, MO to William Burton Sr and Zita (Corse) Clifton.
Burt and Mary Ann Vernon were married April 19, 1952 at St. Boniface. She preceded him on July 13, 2014.
He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown.
Burt retired from the Corp of Engineers in 1986. After retiring he spent enjoyable times with Mary Ann filled with family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Burt always had a cold beer and time for a visit when family and friends stopped by his shop.
Survivors include his son, Dale Clifton of Perryville, MO; two daughters, Kim (Russ) Lane of Jackson, Joan (Joe Triolo) Carlton of Geneva, IL; five grandchildren, Toby (Susan) Clifton, Josh (Kristin) Clifton, Heidi (Mike) Marler, Jared (Taylor) Schaaf, Abby (Arron) Hammete; great grandchildren and extended family, which were all his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann Clifton; sister, Delores Littleton; daughter-in-law, Sherry Clifton.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on Friday, October 2, 2026 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Friday, October 2, 2026 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with Rev. Steven Theiss officiating.
Burial will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Crosstown.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Louis Children’s Vascular Anomaly Clinic.
