In recognition of his decades of service to the fair and to the East Perry County community, Brian Dreyer has been named the 2026 Grand Marshal of the East Perry Community Fair.
Born in Cape Girardeau and raised in Frohna, Brian is the son of Edgar and Della Dreyer and of Betty Deardorff. Growing up in Frohna for 20 years, Brian attended CTLS grade school and Perryville High School. As many did, Brian grew up mowing yards and working on and for many local farmers. After a year of College at SEMO, Brian went to work with his dad at Dreyer Electric where he became a Master Electrician and remained working for 43 years, managing the business for 25 of those and owning the business for 21.
While serving the Community through his business, Brian also has shown his commitment to the area by serving on numerous boards including the Perryville Chamber of Commerce/The Perryville Development Corp for 24 years, The SEMO Independent Electrical Contractors Group for 25 plus years and currently remains serving on the Independence Health System Board (since 2004) and The Bank of Missouri Board of Directors (since 2008). Brian also remains active in his Church, Immanuel Lutheran in Perryville, where he has served as Usher, Elder, Trustee, and on the Board of Education.
While now retired from Dreyer Electric, Brian enjoys spending time and following all the activities that his nine Grandchildren participate in. He has always been a big supporter of local schools and still finds time during the High School Football season to work the chain gang for Perryville High School Football.
He and his wife Tammy have three children: Shannon Burhle, husband Garrett; Jason Dreyer, wife Emily; and Justin Dreyer, wife Rachel. When he isn’t involved in community activities, Brian enjoys spending time on his farm in Altenburg, golfing, and watching sports.
For Brian the Fair holds special memories. He’s assisted with the Fair’s electrical needs since 1979, hooking up stands and booths and keeping the electrical infrastructure of the grounds serviceable. He’s also volunteered in various stands when help is needed. Other memories include marching in the parade as a school kid and then later driving a Dreyer Electric truck with his employees through the parade route. He, like many, loves seeing the crowds line the streets of Altenburg in anticipation of the parade.
Brian remembers his dad Edgar serving as Grand Marshal a few years back and now feels extremely honored to follow in his father’s footsteps. From the Fairs perspective Brian’s honor is well deserved. Years of dedication to the fair, countless hours of community service, and owning and operating a business within the community that has always catered to the needs of the community make Brian the perfect individual to receive this honor. Add to this the fact that he’s a second-generation Grand Marshal shows not only Brian’s dedication but his family’s dedication to making the East Perry Community Fair the best it can be.
